Kari Englund-Moreton, MSW, LCSW

I strive to provide a warm, safe environment in which you can feel safe to share and process current experiences and past experiences that may be causing difficulty to your system. I believe that positive experiences and relationships are central to trauma recovery and are important to general well-being.  I believe that psychotherapy is a journey of self-discovery.  The purpose of psychotherapy is to assist with knowing the self, connecting with your intrinsic goodness, wisdom, and strength and to encourage you to be in consciousness with the self.

I approach therapy from a trauma informed, holistic perspective that honors all aspects of a person as an integrated whole, using body based somatic psychotherapy and mindfulness techniques at the core of my practice.  When we begin to slow down and explore our mind-body experience with curiosity and care, we can start to notice and transform old wounds and patterns that are interfering with our ability to live a full life of ease, passion, and connection.  I come from a place of co-creating a journey with you that deeply honors the wisdom and strengths you already carry while also encouraging you to be in consciousness with the self: ultimately aiding you in accessing a more balanced, peaceful, and productive life.

I have experience working with clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, substance abuse issues, and other difficulties that were negatively impacting their lives.  I have experience working with adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric setting as well as working with adolescents in a long-term substance abuse treatment facility.  I also have experience working with active duty military members and their families as well as veterans in a housing program.  I have worked in the private practice setting for 3 years and I am committed to my own personal and professional growth to make psychotherapy a creative process, a place of safety and security, where you will not feel judged or criticized.  I look forward to meeting with you.

A note about No-Shows/Late Cancellations:

In the event of a no-show or a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice I will charge a fee to recoup the time and earnings lost. The fee is not intended to feel punitive, but rather to ensure I am able to continue to support my family as a small business owner. I thank you in advance for your understanding of this policy and practice.

Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.
